After the ECAC Hockey Conference Men battle for the title at the Herb Brooks Arena for over 20 years, this would be the first time that the Women decide their title there, and the first finals would see the #1 Yale Bulldogs and the #3 Quinnipiac Bobcats go to battle in front of 2,200 fans. The upset-minded Bobcats would get the first answer of the game at the 6:32 mark of the first period when Ella Johnson would get the opening goal to make it a 1-0 game, and that's how the first period ended. The game would stay there till the 9:21 mark of the second period when last night's hero, Avery Bairos, would score to make it a 2-0 Bobcats lead for the lone goal of the second period. The Bobcats would keep coming, and at the 3:45 mark of the third period, Zoe Uens would score on the power play to make it a 3-0 game. Then, at the 12:54 mark of the third period, the Bulldogs would get on the board thanks to Mariya Rauf finding the 5-hole, making it a 3-1 game. Then, with just under three minutes left in the game, the Bobcats would add to empty netters from Ella Johnson and Emerson Jarvis to secure the 5-1 victory and be crowned the 2026 ECAC Hockey Conference Women's Hockey Champion and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. In the winning effort for the Bobcats, Felicia Frank would make 31 saves as they went to 28-8-3 on the season. As for the Bulldogs, Samson Frey would make 22 saves as they fall to 25-9 on the season and await an NCAA at-large bid to the Tournament. Gallery

Malone's Denali Boyea Woodward with the hit along the boards that would pin Beekmantown;s Braeden Nephew (7) to break up the play. It would be the NYSPHSAA Boys' Hockey Division II North Regional final from the Ronald B Stafford Arena with 1400 fans in attendance as the #2 Malone Huskies from Section X would travel to take on the #11 Beekmantown Eagles from Section with the winner headed to the final four next weekend at the LeCeom Harbor Center in Buffalo for the championship weekend. The Eagles would get the opening goal of the game at the 13:49 mark of the first period, when Jackson Deyo would make it 1-0. Then just 59 seconds later, the Eagles would strike again, this time from Edward Sweenor, to make it a 2-0 Eagles lead at the end of the first period. The Huskies would have a quick answer in the second period, just 1:43 in on the Jonathan Scaef marker to make it a one-goal game at 2-1. The Eagles would have an answer, though, at the 12:32 mark of the period when Jackson Deyo would strike for his second goal of the game and regain the two-goal lead at 3-1, and that's how the period would end. In the third period, both teams would have their chances, but it would take until the 15:57 mark for Jake Kaska to score on the extra attacker, tying the game at 3-3 down the stretch. The Huskies would have their chances in the last minute to tie the game, but they couldn't find the back of the net to tie the game, and the Eagles would hold on for the 3-2 win. In the winning effort, Jack Bell would make 27 saves as they go to 15-6-2 on the season and head to the final four against Bryham Hill on March 14th. ECAC Hockey Conferene Women's Hockey Semi-Finals: #1 Yale Bulldogs Vs #4 Cornell Big Red March 6th 2026

Yale's Samson Frey (27) with the pad save as part of a 26 save night in the 7-2 win over Cornell. For the first time in the history of the ECAC Hockey Conference, the Women's Hockey Tournament would have its final four and championship at the famed Herb Brooks Arena, the site of the 1980 Miracle on Ice. The first semi-final game would see the #1 Yale Bulldogs take on the #4 Cornell Big Red in front of 1,800 fans, with the winner advancing to the championship the next day. The Big Red would get the opening goal of the game just 44 seconds into the game from Avi Adam for the 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs would get the tying goal at the 14:04 mark when Gracie Gilkyson would score on the power play to make it a 1-1 game. The Bulldogs would answer again just three minutes later, from Emma McGowan, to give the Bulldogs the 2-1 lead, and that's where the first period would end. The Bulldogs would stay on fire as they returned for the second period when Molly Boyle would strike just 2:47 into the second period to give them the 3-1 lead. Then at the 8:55 mark of the period, the Bulldogs would extend their lead to 4-1 when Carina DiAntonio would score. The Big Red would finally have an answer just 1:33 into the third period when Delaney Fleming would light the lamp and make it a 4-2 game. The Bulldogs would regain their three-goal lead when Stephanie Stainton would score on the short-handed to make it a 5-2ThenTh, en at the 14:55 mark of the thirperiodri, Carina DiAntonio would get her second goal of thgamega, this time on an empty-netter, to make it 6-, and then,e n with just seconds left in the gam, Avery Peters would score to secure the 7-2 victory. In the Bulldogs' winning effort, Samson Frey made 26 saves as they went to 25-8 and advanced to the championship game. Princeton's Angelina DiGirolamo would tie the game up with 12 minutes left and send the game to overtime. It would be the second semi-final of the ECAC Hockey Conference Women's Semi-Finals at the Herb Brooks Arena, and 1,000 fans would see whether the #2 Princeton Tigers or the #3 Quinnipiac Bobcats would battle the Yale Bulldogs for the 2026 ECAC Hockey Conference Women's Hockey Finals tomorrow The Bobcats would get the opening goal of the game at the the 11:38 mark of the first period when Taylor Brueske would score to make it a 1-0 Bobcats. There would be many chances for both teams to score until the midway point of the third period. Still, there would be nothing till the 8:38 when Princeton's Angelina Digirolamo would score to tie the game at one, and that is where the game would stay through the rest of regulation Once the game went to vertime it would take little time for the Bobcats to net the game winner when Avery Bairos would get her own rebound off the breakaway and stuff it away for the game winner and send the Bobcats to the championship. In the winning effort, the Bobcats' Felicia Frank would make 30 saves as they went to 27-8-3 and head to the championship. Section VII Boy's Basketball Champions Challenge: #2 Bolton Eagles Vs Northern Adirondack Bobcats March 5th 2026

It would be the boys' edition of the 2026 Section VII Champions Challenge, and it would start with the Small Schools championship between the #2 Bolton Eagles and the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The upset-minded Bobcats would come out charging with a 15-8 quarter to jump out on the Eagles. In the second quarter,, the Eagles would taketheir run-and-gunn offense and have a 17-14 quarte,r, but the Bobcats would still have the 29-25 lead at the intermission When the teams return for the third quarter, the Eagles would still be out running the Bobcats with a 17-12 quarter as the Eagles take the 37-34 lead. In the 4th quarter, both teams ran up and down the court, with the Bobcats leading 9-17, but the Eagles won 9-55. In the winning effort for the Bolton Eagles, Sam Foy would have 22 points as they stay undefeated at 22-0. Section VII Boy's Basketball Champions Challenge: #18 Saranac Lake Red Storm Vs Peru Nighthawks March 5th 2026

Saranac Lake's Zack McCarthy races in on the breakaway and scores as part of a ten-point night. It would be the fourth game of the 2026 Section VII Champions Challenge, featuring the Peru Nighthawks and the #18 Saranac Lake Red Storm as they go after the section big-school title. The Red Storm would come out surging, leading 16-2 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, it would not be much better for the Nighthawk,s as the Red Storm has a 16-6 quarter and takes a 32-8 lead at intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Nighthawks would find their shot, but the Red Storm were still firing, and they would win the quarter 16-1, taking the 48-22 lead into the fourth. The teams would enter the fourth with the outcome pretty much known, but there would be no let-up in the Red Storm as they would have a 19-10 quarter and secure the 67-32 victory. In the winning effort, Red Storm, Cedar would lead the way with 23 points, as they would go to 20-4 on the season. As for the Nighthawks, Layden Delaronde would lead the way with 10 points, as they would fall to 13-7 on the season, with both teams focusing on the New York State Tournament. Gallery

Section VII Champions Challenge Girl's Basketball: #7 Moriah Vikings Vs #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 4th 2026

Moriah's Emmy Nephew (24) with the three from the wing as part of a game high 19 points as they get the 57-42 win. It would be the first game of the second annual Section VII Champions Challenge, and it would feature a pair of top-15 teams in their own class, as the #7 Moriah Vikings would meet the #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats. The Vikings would come out on fire and jump out to a big lead, as they had a 20-3 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Wildcats would find their shot and go toe-to-toe with the Vikings, winning the quarter 13-12, but they would still trail 32-16 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings came out with the better start, outscoring the Bears 13-8 and taking a 45-24 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats would do their best to get back in the game, but the deficit would just be too much as they would have an 18-12 quarter, but the Vikings would get a 57-42 victory. In the Vikings' winning effort, Emmy Nephew led the way with 19 points, as they improved to 17-3 on the season. As for the Schroon Lake Wildcats, Olivia Hartwell would also chip in with 19 points as they go to 16-6 on the season, and they both get ready for the New York State Playoffs. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey Championship: #2 Plattsburgh Hornets @ #1 Beekmantown Eagles March 2nd 2026

It would be a matchup between the top 2 teams in Section VII Boy's Hockey as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front over 1,100 fans the bigest attendances for the chamionship in years with the winner getting a berth in the New York State Division 2 State tournament and the winner getting the #5 Malone Huskies back here on Saturday March 7th. The Beekmantown Eagles would be opening the goal of the game at the 9:11 mark of the first period from the quicker wrister off the stick of Mason Carter, with Jacobey Weeden and Jackson Deyo picking up the assist on the lone goal of the period to end the first 1-0 Eagles. The Hornets would come out buzzing in the second period and get the equalizer at the 1:41 mark of the second period when Westen Studley would light the lamp with help from Jacob Wheelin and Colby Chase. The Eagles would have an answer, though, at the 5:20 mark of the period when Edward Sweenor would beat Owen Chapple glove side to retake the 2-1 lead with thanks to Braeden Nephew and Evan Bruyette, and that's where the scoring would stop for the second period. The Eagles would extend their lead to 3-1 at the 8:36 mark of the third period when Mason Carter would get his second of the night with help from Pryce Parker and Jack Rovers to give them the big two-goal lead. The Hornets would answer back quickly, though, just 25 seconds later, when Alex Hanshaw would beat Jack Bell to make it a 3-2 game down the stretch. The defense for the Eagles would stand strong down the stretch, hold off the Hornets' swarm, and secure the 3-2 win for the championship. In a championship effort for the Eagles, Jack Bell would make 23 saves as they won the Section VII title and will meet up with the #5 Malone Huskies on March 7th for a chance at the trip to Buffalo and the final. The game would start at a high-scoring pace as both teams came out of the locker rooms, and the Vikings would have a 22-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter,, the Bobcats would stay on fire, go 13-4, and take a 30-26 lead into the intermission as they looked for the upse When the teams returned fromthe locker room,m the Vikings offense would also make its retur,n and the Bobcats would beshut downn as they would have a 15-4 quarter and retake the lead at 41-34 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the teams played pretty evenly, but t. Still, they had no answer as the Vikings outscored them 14-11 and secured a 55-45 victory. It would be the final game of the 2026 Section VII Basketball Championship weekend at the Florence Gym at Clinton Community College, with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the Girls' Class A title. The Nighthawks would come out on fire as they would jump out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. They would keep it going in the second quarter, scoring 14-6 and taking a 28- 0 lead into the locker room. When they came out of the locker room, it would be more of the same for the Nighthawks with a 17-7 quarter as they would stand at 45-17 as they entered the fourth. In the 4th quarter, the Nighthawks would go into cruise mode, and the Eagles would win the quarter 13-10, but the Nighthawks would hold on for the 55-30 victory. In the winning effort for the Nighthawks, Reese Duprey would lead the way with 20 points as they punched their ticket to the New York State Class A Tournament.
