Malone's Ryan Hesseltine (2) takes flight and slams it home on the breakaway for the score as the Huskies get the 65-46 victory. We would have non-league action this day at Plattsburgh High School, as they would start their holiday break, and it would feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and the visiting Malone Huskies. The game would start tight, as both teams looked for that spark to make a run, and we would be tied at 10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, we would still be tight, as both teams were making their shots on this night, as the Hornets would have a 14-13 quarter and take the 24-23 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Huskies found another gear and stormed out to a 24-1 quarter, doubling their first-half total in one quarter, and took the 47-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, there would be no letup for the Huskies, as they led 18-10 and cruised to a 65-46 victory. In the winning effort, the Huskies would stay undefeated on the season, going to 5-0, while the Plattsburgh Hornefellall to 1-3 and will look to right the ship next week when they take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on December 29th. Applebee's Winter Classic Championship: #5 Rye Garnet @ Beekmantown Eagles December 20th, 2025

The Rye Garneet are crowned the 2025 Applebee's Winter Classic champions with the 4-1 win over the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be the championship of the 2025 edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic as the host Beekmantown Eagles would take on Section I powerhouse and #5 Rye Garent at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse. The Garnet would get the opening goal of the game, but it would take till the 15-minute mark of the first period when Jamie Morris would score to make it 1-0 at the end of the first period. The Eagles would come out soaring in the second period and get the equalizer just 1:23 into the period on the Mason Carter goal. The Garnet would keep coming, though, and they would retake the one-goal lead on the Max Niejadlik goal at the 115-minute mark. When the third period opened, the Garnet made it 3-1 just 2:04 in on the Will Niejadlik goal. Then, seconds later, the Garnet would make it a 4-1 game on the Jamie Morris goal, and from there they would clamp down on defense and secure the 4-1 and the 2025 Applebee's Winter Classic championship. Applebee's Winter Classic Consolation Game : Storm Vs Northeastern Clinton Cougars December 20th 2025

Storm's Ethan Graber (20) with the hard hit on Northeastern Clinton defender to knock him off the puck. It would be the second day of the Applebee's Winter Classic, and the first game up in the afternoon would be the consolation game between the Storm Hockey and Northeastern Clinton Cougars as they go after third place. The game would start well for the Storm, as they scored three goals in the first nine minutes from Joe Kosier and Andrew Boldyrev. The Cougars answered back at the 14:11 mark of the period, when Alex Bulriss lit the lamp and made it 3-1 after the 1st period. In the second period, the Storm would have the lone goal of the period from Keegan McGovern at the 13:28 mark of the period to make it a 4-1 game. The Storm would come out in the third period and make it a-1 at 55 seconds in on Alexander Boldyrev's second goal of the game, and then, just about three minutes later, he would finish off the hat trick, making it w-1. Then, at the seven-minute mark of the period, the Cougars would strike twice from Cobe LaFountain and Josh Seymour, making it 5-3 with just under 10 minutes left in the game. Then, with just over a minute left in the game, the Storm put the game on ice, making it 6-3 on Nate Conner's goal, and got the win and third place on the weekend. Gallery.

Applebee's Winter Classic Semi-Finals: Rye Garnet Vs Northeastern Clinton Cougars December 19th, 2025

Rye' Fernando Mosquera (35) with a glove save as he spreads across the net to keep the Cougars off the board. It would be the second game of the opening day of the 2025 Applebee's Winter Classic at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse, and it would see the upstart Northeastern Clinton Cougars taking on the powerhouse Rye Garnet. The Garnet would get the lone goal of the first period from Jake Souza at the 8:51 mark to give them the 1-0 lead after one. In the second period, the Garnet offense would explode, lighting the lamp five times thanks to Max Niejadeik and Ryan Draddy. As for the Cougar, they would have one to answer back, thanks to Cameron Supernaw, and it would be a 6-1 Garnet lead after the period. In the third period, there would be no let-up for the Garnets as they would have another four goals from Will and Max Niejadlik, along with Trevor Dol, as they would cruise to the 10-1 victory. With the win, the Rye Garnets will meet the Beekmantown Eagles to decide the champion of the 2025 edition. As for the Cougars, they will look for their first win of the season against the Storm behind the 554-saveeffort of Camden Badger. Gallery.

Northeastern Clinton's Anna Raccine (2) throws up three to beat the first half buzzer to take a 16-11 lead at the break. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference of Section VII in girls' basketball between the host Plattsburgh Hornets and the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars in an early-season tilt. The game would start well for the visiting Cougars, who took a 7-2 lead after the first quarter in a defensive battle. The Hornets would answer back quickly in the section quarter with 5 points in the first minute to tie the game at 7, but the Cougars would finish the half on a 9-4 run to take the 16-11 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would show their muscle, scoring 7-1 to take an 18-17 lead into the final eight minutes of the game. In that final quarter, the Cougars would get their shot back and goon toto have an 11-4 quarter to secure the 28-22 victory on the nig, their first win of the season, and go to 1-2 while the Hornets fall to 1-3 on the season. Well's (14) with the block shot on Seton Catholic's (15) as she drives to the basket for the score attempt. It would be a matchup within the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference, with the Seton Catholic Knights hosting the Wells Wildcats in Plattsburgh in an early-season contest. It would be a defensive battle through the first quarter, with the Wildcats holding a slim 4-3 lead. In the second quarter, the Wildcats found their offense and pulled away with a 12-3 quarter to take a 16-6 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the second half it would be the defensive contest that we started the game with as the Wildcats would win the half 10-6 and they would secure the 26-12 win, In the winning effort the Wildcats would stay perfect on the season as they go to 3-0 while the Knights fall to 1-3 on the season. It would be the crosstown battle and for the early lead in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks at a packed gym. The game would be tight through the first quarter as they went back and forth, feeling each other out. Ryan Colburn would hit a bbuzzer-beaterto end the quarter, tied at 10. In the second quarter, the NNighthawks pulledaway, winning 11-5 and taking a 21-15 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Nighthawks would stay on the gas with a 14-5 quarter to take a 35-20 lead into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the offense would take off for both teams, as the Nighthawks would outscore the Nighthawks 17-12 to cruise to a 52-32 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would stay undefeated on the season at 5-0, and the Hornets would suffer their first loss, falling to 2-1. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Kaelyn Morgan (25) with the off-balance shot as she drove the lane for the score as part of a game with 16 points. It would be the last game before the winter break for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Basketball as they would host cross-state foe and fellow SUNYAC member the Buffalo State Bengals in front of 200 fans. The game would be tight through the first quarter as both teams were feeling each other out, and the Cardinals would have the slim 19-17 lead after one quarter. The Cardinals would start to find their groove in the second quarter, extending their lead to 22-12 and taking a 41-29 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bengals would do their best to get back in the game, scoring 15-11 to shrink the Cardinals' lead to 52-44. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would do what they needed to do to keep the game in hand and win the quarter 14-12, securing the 66-56 victory. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Kaelyn Morgan led the way with 16 points, as they go to 6-2 on the season. For the Bengals, Morgan Popp had 13 points, as they fell to 0-7 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Irwayne Connell (35) takes it hard to the basket and goes over Buffalo State's Chisom Ani (7) for the score as part of a 6-point night. It would be the last Plattsburgh State Cardinals Men's Basketball game before the winter break, and they would take on SUNYAC foe the Buffalo State Bengals in front of 300 fans. For the first half of the first half, the game went back and forth, with both teams taking the lead, but the Cardinals took control and led 37-2 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Cardinals took complete control with a 46-29 half, and they walked away with an 83-58 victory as they head into the break at 4-3. In the Cardinals' winning effort, Reem Welch led the way with 24 points. For the Bengals W, Imer Beard and Remi Skvoc would each have 11 points, as they fall to 4-4 on the season. Gallery

Beekmantown's Carter Lapier (16) had one of the best scoring chances of the night during overtime, as the game would finish 0-0. It would be the night of the 2025-26 NYSHPHSAA Boys' Hockey season, and it would see the La Salle Cadets travel up from the capital region to take on the Beekmantown Eagles at the Plattsburgh State Field House as both teams would be looking to start their season off with a win. The first period would see both teams going through the motions as they tried to figure each other out, since there would be no scoring. In the second period, the intensity of both teams would pick up as they were looking for that opening goal, but there would be more time than anything with them a man down, then anything, as neither team would once again find the net, and they would remain tied at zero. In the third period, both teams would have their best scoring chances of the nig, ht but they still couldn't find the net, and the game would stay tied at zero. With the game tied at 0, they would head to five-minute overtime to decide a winner. Still, neither team could turn on the red light. As the BeeAsntown Eagles would start their season at 0-0-1, aack Bell would make 26 saves in the shutout, and they will be back at it tomorrow as they take on the Nisyuankain in search of that first win. As for the La Salle Caets, Alaina Winther would make 33 saves for the shutout, as they will also look for that first win as they finish off their road trip tomorrow against the Plattsburgh Hornets.
