NCAA Second Round: #16 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Union Dutchmen - March 3rd 2018

This would be another game that would be tight for the most part and actually be tied at 41 at intermission. When the teams came back for the second half the Cardinals would prove to be too much as they would win the half 46-34 and take the 87-75 victory. #3 Oswego State Lakers @ #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals NEWHL Women's Hockey Championship March 3rd 2018

Plattsburgh State's Abby Brush (24) roofs the goal on the two on one breakaway goal. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would the #3 Oswego State Lakers in the first-ever NEWHL championship. The Cardinals would waste little time in showing that they wanted the title as they would score three goals in the first from Courtney Moriarty, Kayla Meneghain and Abby Brush. In the second period, it would be more of the same as they would score three more from Courtney Moriarty, Mackenize Millen and Kayla Meneghain for the 6-0 lead. In the third period the Cardinals would back off the throttle and cruise to the 6-0 victory. In the winning effort, Brooke Wolejko would 23 saves for the shutout. #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Crown Point Panthers Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball D Finals March 3rd 2018

Moriah's Dylan Trombley (55) stretches out for the layup off the window and the score. The #1 Moriah Vikings would square off with the #2 Crown Point Panthers for the Section VII Class D Championship. The Vikings would cruise out to the early lead at 18-9 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same as they win the quarter 18-17 to have a 36-26 lead at intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter 19-18 to have the 57-44 lead headed to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Vikings would pull away and get the easy win with a 23-10 quarter and secure the 80-54 victory. #1 Ticonderoga Sentinels Vs #2 N.A.C. Bobcats Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball C Finals March 3rd 2018

Ticonderoga's Ethan Thompson (14) takes up strong on the putback for the score. The #1 Ticonderoga Sentinels would take on the #2 N.A.C. Bobcats in the Championships of Section VII Class C. The Sentinels would race out to an early lead at 16-7 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, they would increase the lead with a 16-10 quarter for a 32-17 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter they would extend the lead with a 9-6 quarter for 41-23 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats would do there best to get back in it winning the quarter 15-11. Although it wouldn't be enough as the Sentinels would get the 52-41 victory and advance to the New York State Tournament. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Elijah Bryant (1) drives from the wing and creates the opening on the way. It would be the opening night of the NCAA Tournament and the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Nicholls Bisons in a matchup of the top 25 teams in the country. It would be a very tightly called game with a lot of offensive firepowers. The Cardinals would take a 51-46 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the second half the Cardinals would start to pull away and win the half 52-40 and secure the 103-86 victory. Plattsburgh State's Eli Bryant (1) goes up and under the defender as part of a 12 point night. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #5 Oswego State Lakers in the SUNYAC Semi-Finals. The game would be close and high scoring throughout the first half but the Cardinals would have a 40-34 lead at the intermission. In the second half the high scoring affair would continue and the Cardinals would win the half 49-42 to secure the 89-76 victory. Buffalo State Bengals @ #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals NEWHL Women's Hockey February 17th 2018

Plattsburgh State's Madison Walker (17) waiting on the rebound attempt in front. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Buffalo State Bengals in a NEWHL game. The game would start slow as the Cardinals would get the lone goal of the period from Kerri Corcoran. The game would remain there til 7:05 of the second period when Buffalo State would equal the game up at one. Although from there the Cardinals would light the lamp three more times in the period from Courtney Moriarty to make it 4-1 after the second period. hen the teams came out for the third period the Cardinals offense would go on fire and score five goals. All five goals scorers would be different from Melissa Sheehan, Baye Falagan, Lizzy Viola, Annie Katonka and Sarah Wolf for the 9-1 victory. In the winning effort, Kassi Abbott would make 19 saves as the Cardinals go to 20-2-2 on the season. Gallery

Cortland State Red Dragons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals SUNYAC Women's Basketball - February 16th 2018

Plattsburgh State's Christina Testa (11) with the three-pointer from the top of the arc. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oneonta State Red Dragons in SUNYAC action. When the game would start it would be tight as the Cardinals trailed 17-15 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game would stay close as the Cardinals only lose it 19-17 and would trail 36-32 at the break, When the teams came back for the second half the Dragons would start to pull away as the Cardinals lose the third quarter 19-11 and trail 55-43 after the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would try to cut into the difference but would lose the quarter 17-14 and lose the game 72-57. In the losing effort, Kelly Degnan would lead the way with 16 points as the Cardinals fall to 3-3 on the season. Gallery

Cortland State Red Dragons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals SUNYAC Men's Basketball - February 16th 2018

Plattsburgh State's Eli Bryant (1) goes up and under the basket as part of a game-high 22 point night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons in the first game of the final weekend of the season. The Cardinals would jump out to a big league in the first half and not look back as they would have a 46-28 lead at the break. When the teams came for the second half the Red Dragons would do there best to make a game of it but it wouldn't work. As the Cardinals would win the second half 49-46 and secure the easy 95-74 victory. In the winning effort, Eli Bryant and Jonathan Patron would lead the way with 22 points as the Cardinals go to 19-4 on the season. Gallery

Fredonia State Blue Devils @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals SUNYAC's Men's Hockey February 10th 2018

Plattsburgh State's Jesse Nehr (22) looks to extend the lead on an open net but it goes just wide. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC action in the home finale of the season. The game would be tight throughout and remain scoreless until 11:33 of the second period when the Blue Devils score to take a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would tie the game up with 4 minutes remaining left in the second period on Rich McCartney's goal. Then at the 3:40 mark of the third period, the Cardinals would score twice in 20 seconds to make it 3-1 on Jesse Nehr and Rich McCartney's goal. The Blue Devils would score at the 12-minute mark on a penalty shot to cut the lead in half at 3-2. Then in the closing minute of the game, Aryton Valente would score the empty netter to secure the 4-2 victory. In the winning effort, Lawson Fenton would make 37 saves as the Cardinals go to 12-11 on the season. Gallery
