The Malone Huskies would come short in there home opener losing 6-0 to the Plattsburgh Hornets in nondivision action. The Plattsburgh Hornets would get two-goal in each period for the win. It would be the Malone Huskies hosting the Potsdam Sandstones in the Northern Football Conference Class A Championship. It would be a close game throughout the first half as both teams would trade scores back and forth with the Huskies taking at 27-20 lead into the break. Although when the second half would start the Huskies would show their dominance as they would score four times in the third quarter to end up getting the 48-20 victory. In the winning effort John Picarco would have a three-touchdown day. With the win, the Malone Huskies advance to the state playoffs against Brunt Hill next weekend at Stillwater High School. The game would be tight throughout the first half with the Chiefs taking a 27-20 lead into the break. In the end, it would be the tale of two halves as in the second half would steamroll the Huskies and get the convincing 48-27 win and end Malone's unbeaten season.
