Section VII Boy's Basketball Class D Finals: #1 Bolton Eagles Vs #2 Wells Wildcats February 28th 2026

Bolton's William Hen's (11) with the save as the ball is going out of bounds to keep the play alive. It would be the last boys' championship to be settled on the weekend as the #1 Bolton Eagles would meet up with the #2 Wells Wildcats for the Section VII Class D Finals from the Clinton Community College Florence Gym. The Eagles would fly out of the locker room to start the game, with a 17-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the tables would turn. Section VII Class C Girl's Basketball Finals: #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats February 28th 2026

Moriah's Alyssa Cartwright (8) with the three from the corner over Northern Adirondack's defender. It would be the next-to-last game of the weekend as the #1 Moriah Vikings would meet up with the #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats for the Section VII Class C Championship from the Clinton Community College Florence Gym. The game would start at a high-scoring pace as both teams came out of the locker rooms, and the Vikings would have a 22-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter,, the Bobcats would stay on fire, go 13-4, and take a 30-26 lead into the intermission as they looked for the upse When the teams returned fromthe locker room,m the Vikings offense would also make its retur,n and the Bobcats would beshut downn as they would have a 15-4 quarter and retake the lead at 41-34 lead into the final quarter. Section VII Class A Girl's Basketball Finals: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 28th 2026

Peru's Elianna Trumper (1) with the mid-range jumper for the score as the Nighthawks win the championship. It would be the final game of the 2026 Section VII Basketball Championship weekend at the Florence Gym at Clinton Community College, with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the Girls' Class A title. The Nighthawks would come out on fire as they would jump out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. They would keep it going in the second quarter, scoring 14-6 and taking a 28- 0 lead into the locker room. When they came out of the locker room, it would be more of the same for the Nighthawks with a 17-7 quarter as they would stand at 45-17 as they entered the fourth. In the 4th quarter, the Nighthawks would go into cruise mode, and the Eagles would win the quarter 13-10, but the Nighthawks would hold on for the 55-30 victory. In the winning effort for the Nighthawks, Reese Duprey would lead the way with 20 points as they punched their ticket to the New York State Class A Tournament. It would be the last game of the opening day of the Section VII Championship weekend as the #1 Saranac Spartans would meet up with the #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm for the Boys' Basketball Class C Championship. It would be a tight, high-scoringgame to get it started as the Red Storm would have ta19-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game would stay close, but the Red Storm would extend their lead by 1 with a 13-12 quarter and take the 32-29 lead at intermission. Section VII Boy's Basketball Class A Finals: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Plattsburgh Hornets February 27th 2026

Peru's Camden Sweeney (23) scored with the three from the wing over the Hornets defender for the score. It would be the first game of the championship weekend from the Florence Gym at Clinton Community College as the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would meet up for the Section VII Class A Championship. The upset-minded Hornets would start well, doubling up the Nighhawks in the first quarter with a 1- 4-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Nighthawks would have answered, as they would take the quarter 18-6 and hold a 25-20 lead at the intermission. In the third quarter, the Hornets would answer back, scoring 15-9 and taking a 35-34 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would have the answer and put the finishing touches on the Hornets with aan18-7 quarter. In the winning effort for the Nighthawks, a trio would lead the way with 11 points: Eli Ledwith, Cogan St. Denis, and Mouhamadou Diatt, as they advance to the New York State Class A Tournament. Northern Adirondack's Kameron Chinchilla (3) lays it off the window for the score as the Bobcats get the 60-41 victory. It would be the second game of championship weekend at the Clinton Community College Florence Gym, as the #1 Moriah Vikings would be going for their seventh straight championship against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats, who were going for their first title since 2015. It would be a defensive battle to start the game, as the Bobcats would have a low-scoring lead at 6-4 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams' offenses came alive, with Moriah winning the quarter 16-14 and the game tied at 20. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey Semi-Finals: #4 Saranac Spartans @ #1 Beekmantown Eagles February 26th 2026

Saranac's Adrian Barnes (8) bangs the goal in the far side of the net to make it a 6-2 game early in the third period. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Division II Boys' Hockey playoffs at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena, and it would see a rematch of last year's finals as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #4 Saranac Spartans. The Eagles would waste little time jumping out to a lead, scoring two goals in the first 3:35 of the game from Edward Sweenor and Mason Carter, taking a 2-0 lead. The Spartans would get on the board at the 13:18 mark of the period on Gabe Moore's goal, and that's how the period would end, 2-1. The Eagles would be able to extend their lead to 3-1 at the 8:08 mark of the period on the Ivan Roy goal, and that would be the lone goal of the period at 3-1 Eagles as they enter the third. The Eagles would strike for three goals in the first 1:49 of the period from Mason Carter (second of the night), Pryce Parker, and Edward Sweenor (second of the night). TheSpartans would also add one in that stretch from Adrian Barnes to make it 6-2. The Eagles would finish off the game at the 10:31 mark of the period when Edward Sweenor would complete his hat trick and give the Eagles the 7-2 win, advancingto another finals on Monday night. Plattsburgh's Sam Bezio (10) with the shot from the slot for one of his two goals on the day. It would be the Section VII Division II Boys' Hockey semifinals, as the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers at the AC North Arena, with the winner advancing to Monday's championship game. It would take until the 15:28 mark of the first period for the first goal of the game, when Eli McCormick would light the lamp for the Lakers and take a 1-0 lead, and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the Lakers would extend their lead to 2-0 at 6:50 when Ayden McCormick would get the goal. The Hornets would answer right back 38 seconds later when Sam Bezio would get the Hornets on the board and make it a 2-1 game. The Hornets would not be done there, as they would tie the game at two on Cooper Holland's goal. The Lakers would come back and retake the lead about two minutes later at the 10:32 mark of the period on Eli McCormick's second goal of the game. The Hornets would tie the game again with 4:32 left in the period when Sam Bezio would get the second goal of the game, and the second period would end tied at two. The Hornets would get their first lead of the game at the 9:05 mark of the third period when Cooper Holland would get his second of the game, and from there the Hornets' defense would be up to the challenge as they secured the 4-3 victory. In the winning effort for the Hornets, Owen Chapple would make 21 saves as they entered the finals at 13-5-2. SUNYAC Men's Hockey Quarterfinals: Plattsburgh State Cardinals @ Skidmore Thoroughbreds February 25th 2026

Plattsburgh State's Brannon Butler (23) with the wrister from inside the blueline for the Cardinals first goal to make it 2-1 as they would lose 4-3. It would be the start of the SUNYAC Men's Hockey playoffs. It would see the #6 Plattsburgh State Cardinals travel to Saratoga Springs and the Saratoga Springs Ice Rinks for their quarterfinal matchup with the Skidmore Thoroughbreds in front of 700 fans. The game would remain tied until the 16:549 ark of the 1st period when Tyler Chenevert would light the lamp for Skidmore and take the 1-0 lead after the 1st period. The second period would start well for Skidmore as they quickly jumped to ta2-0 lead on the Coleman Jenkins goal. The Cardinals would answer right back just over a minute later on the Brannon Butler goal to make it a 2-1 game. The Thoroughbreds would come back and regain the two-goal lead at 3-1 on Shane Baker's goal at the 7:50 mark of the second period. Then, with just under five minutes left in the period, Skidmore would extend the lead to 4-1 on Cooper Rice's goal, and that's where the period would end. The Cardinals would keep coming in the third period and make a 4-2 game at the 12:03 mark on the Spencer Bellina goal. The Cardinals would get a goal in the closing seconds of the game from Jake Sacratini, rotoake it a 4-3 final, as the Skidmore Thoroughbreds advance to the Semi-finals. It would be playoff time at Plattsburgh High School as the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Beekmantown Eagles in the Section VII Class A Semi-Finals, with the winner getting the right to play #1 Peru Nighthawks in the Class A Championship at Clinton Community College. It would be a tight defensive battle, and the Eagles would have a slim 12-11 lead after the first 8 minutes. In the second quarter, the Eagles would find their stroke and take charge, 14-8, and lead 26-19 at intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets came out buzzing, went 12-5, and took a 33-31 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the offense would be hitting on all eight cylinders, as the Hornets would score 25-11 and cruise to a 56-42 victory.
