It would be a return to Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action, as we are in the last month of the season, and teams are starting to make that playoff push. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host crosstown rival Beekmantown Eagles in girls' basketball action. The game started well for the home Hornets, who jumped out to a 12-2 lead after the first quarter. The Hornets would keep their foot on the gas in the second quarter as they would have aa19-2 quarter behind some great defense and take the 31-4 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Eagles would find their offense and play with the Hornets, scoring 12 points, but the game was still 42-16 as they entered the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would again stay with the Hornets, 13-10, but the deficit would be too much, as the Hornets held on for the 52-29 victory. In the winning effort,t the Hornets would go to 7-4 on the season while the Eagles would fall to 4-3. Gallery

It would be the 3rd annual Amy McLane Memorial Scholarship game at the AC North Arena, and it would once again feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Saranac Spartans in front of a packed house. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game at the 13:05 mark of the first period when Owen Dubay would light the lamp, and that's where the first period would end. The Spartans would answer at the 1:39 mark of the second period, when Brady McComber scored to tie the game at 1. The game would stay there till the 7:39 mark of the second period when Ben Bezio would give the Hornets the 2-1 lead. The Spartans would come back again and tie the game at 2 on the Deacon Giroux goal at the 13:26 mark. The game would not be rematched for Vong, as the Hornets regained the lead at 3-2 on Tames Bayer's goal, and that was where the period would end. Then at the 5:42 mark of the second period, the Hornets would take their first two-goal lead thanks to Ben Bezio at 4-2. The Spartans would answer back again at the 8:10 mark of the period when Gabe Moore would sink it by and make it a 4-3 game. The Hornets would answer back again and stretch their lead back to 2 at 5-3 when Sam Bezio scored. Then, in the closing time of the game, the Hornets would add the empty-netter for the 6-3 win. NJCAA Division III Region III Men's Basketball: Hudson Valley Community College Vikings @ Clinton Commuty Cougars Januay 12th 2026

Hudson Valley's Kemontae Thawe (2) drives the lane for the score as part of a 19-point game in the 82-77 win. The Clinton Community College would return home to start the 2026 portion of their season as they would take on the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings in NJCAA Region III action. It would be a game of runs, but the Vikings would always seem to have just a little more or just a little better run, and they would have the 43-33 lead after the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, it would be more of the same. Still, the Cougars would have their chances, getting within a couple of points at different times. Still, mental mistakes down the stretch would cost the Cougars, as they would win the half 44-39 but fall 82-7. In the losing effort for the Cougars, they were led by Jeffrey Collins Weeks III, who went to 3-8 on the season. As for the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings, Julius Reed led the way with 33 points as they improved to 6-8 in the season. High School Boy's Hockey: Middlebury Union Tigers @ Saranac Spartans January 10th 2026

Saranac's Brady Macomber (4) scored the game-tying goal with just over a minute left, sending the game to overtime. It would be an interstate contest, as the Saranac Spartans would host the Middlebury Union Tigers from Vermont at the American North Arena as part of the state 2026 portion of their schedule. The Tigers would answer the bell just 38 seconds into the game on Evan Northrup's goal. The game would stay there for the rest of the period. The Tigers would extend their lead to 2-0 on Ethan Mulcahy's goal at the 1:22 mark of the second period. The Spartans would answer back at the 2:52 mark of the second period on the Gabe Moore goal. The Tigers would regain their two-goal lead just 13 seconds later on the Asa Root Pratt to make it 3-1. The Spartans kept coming, and at the 6:05 mark of the second period, Robbie Squier scored to make it a 3-2 game. The Tigers would once again retake the two-goal lead at 4-2 at the 8:12 mark of the period, when Asa Root Pratt would get his second goal of the game. In the third period, the Spartans would come out shooting and, once again, make it a one-goal game at 4-3 just 1:26 in on the Zane Vaughn goal. Then, at the 7:32 mark of the period, the Spartans would tie it for the first time in the afternoon on the Adrian Barnes goal. Aiddlebury would answer with 3:14 left in the game on the Tyler Munson goal. Although the Spartans wouldn't go quietly, they would once again tie the game at four on the Brady Macomber goal. The teams would head to overtime, and two minutes in, the Tigers would get the game-winner from Gabe Quesnel to secure the 5-4 win. In the winning effort, the Tigers would go to 5-3 on the season as TJ Baron made 39 saves. As for the Spartans, they combined for 18 saves, but fell to 1-6 on the season. Gallery

SUNYAC Men's Hockey: Skidmore Thoroughbreds @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals February 13th 2026

It would be the last regular-season home game for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they celebrate their 50th season, taking on the newest member of the SUNYAC, the Skidmore Thoroughbreds, in front of 1400 fans. The game would start well for the home Cardinals, as they would get a quick 1-0 lead just 1:08 into the game on Alexandro Moliner's goal. The lead would be short-lived, though, as the Thoroughbreeds would tie the game up at one just 14 seconds later on the Bryce Terry goal, and that's where the first period would end The Thoroughbreeds would take the 2-1 lead at the 12:47 mark of the Cooper Rice after the Cardinals' attempt to wrap the puck around the boards went terribly wrong when the puck bounced out front of an open net. He banged it home, and that's where the second period would end. The Cardinals would answer quickly in the third period and tie the game at two on the Spencer Bellina goal just 1:58 into the period. The tie would be short-lived, though, as Skidmore would take the lead back just 2:20 later on Dylan Shane's goal. The Cardinals would give it everything they had down the stretch, but just had bad luck with the equalizer, and Skidmore would get the 3-2 win. In the winning effort for the Thoroughbreeds, Tommy Aitken would make 45 saves as they go to 12-9-2 on the season. As for the Cardinals, Beau Lane would make 31 saves as they fall to 12-11 as both teams head into the final weekend of the season, as they travel to take on Potsdam and Canton. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return to conference play after nearly two months away, traveling to Saratoga to take on the newest member of the SUNYAC, the Skidmore Thoroughbreds, at the Saratoga Springs Ice Arena in front of 500 fans. The Thoroughbreds would take the 1-0 lead at the 12:22 mark of the first on the Matthew Franzoi goal. The game would stay there until the 5:44 mark of the second period, when Matthew Franzoi would get his second of the night and make it 2-0. The Cardinals would answer back 2:08 later with the shorthanded goal by Vlad Pshenichnikov and make it a 2-1 game. The Cardinals would score again 31 seconds later and tie the game at two on Riley Sutherland's goal. The game would remain tied till the 15:58 mark of the third period when the Thoroughbreds' Coleman Jenkins would score to make it 3-2. Then, in the closing seconds of the game, Tyler Fogu would add the empty netter for the Thoroughbreds and secure the 4-2 victory. In the winning effort for the Thoroughbreds, Tommy Aitken would make 21 saves as they went to 6-6-2 on the season. New York's Landon Blaine (33) made the save on the scramble play in front of the net as part of a 42-save night. It would be a divisional matchup in the St. Lawrence Division of the United States Premier Hockey League, with the New York Dynamo hosting the Universel Sherbrooke at the AC North Arena. Both teams are making a playoff push in the final 2 months of the season. The Dynamo would get the opening goal of the game just 1:18 in, courtesy of Brandon Murphy, to give them the early 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 9:20 mark of the second period, when the Dynamo would score again, this time from John Duffy, to give them the 2-0 lead. Sherbrook would answer back at the 14:14 mark of the period on the Charles Eric Leger goal to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, the Dynamo would answer back just over a minute later, as Maddox Heise scored too, making it a 3-1 game. Then, with just under 30 seconds left in the period, the Dynamo would extend their lead to 4-1 on Elkhan Abibekov's 5th goal of the season. The game would stay there until the 9:24 mark of the third period, when Elkhan Abibekov would score again for his 6th of the season, making it a 5-1 game. Sherbrooke would have answered with 1:54 left in the game, as Ty Mulcahy would score to make it 5-2. However, the Dynamo would have one last one in them, as Colton Warren made it a 6-2 win on his 14th of the season. It would be the first game of 2026 for both the Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the Beekmantown Eagles, and they would face off at the Plattsburgh State Field House in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The game would remain scoreless until the final two seconds of the opening period, when Sullivan Loughan would light the lamp and make it a 1-0 game. The game would stay there until the 8:26 mark of the second period, when Jacoby Weeden would score on the power play and make it 2-0 Eagles. The Cougars kept coming and cut the deficit in half at 2-1 on the Josh Seymour goal with 1:41 left in the period. The Eagles would come out flying in the third, and they would regain the two-goal lead at 3-1 on the Ivan Roy goal at the 3:44 mark of the third. The Cougars would come back and make it a one-goal game again at the 8:12 mark of the period on the Scott Wyre goal. The Eagles would have one more answer and make it a two-goal game again at 4-2 on the Edward Sweenor goal at the 13:28 mark of the third. From there, the Eagles' defense would stand tall and get the 4-2 win, and in the winning effort, Jack Bell would have 23 saves on the night and arecordhis 1,000th career save as they go to 3-4-1. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Girl's Basketball: Malone Huskies Vs Saranac Spartans January 3rd 2026

Malone's Sadie Varin (12) breaks in and lays it in off the window for the score as the Huskies fall short. It would be the start of the second day of the 6th annual Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, and it would begin with a matchup between Section X and Section VII, pitting the Malone Huskies against the Saranac Spartans. The game started well for the Huskies, who jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, though, the Spartans would start to find their shot, scoring 12 points and trailing by a slim 18-16 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Spartans kept their hot hand going, scoring 15 points and taking a 31-22 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Huskies mounted a great comeback attempt and even had a chance to tie the game and force overtime in the final 2 seconds with a three-point attempt, but it came up short, and they would fall 44-41. In the winning effort for the Spartans M, Addison Graigner would lead the way with 13 points as they gowent-0 in the tournament. As for the Hus, Raegan McArddle would have me high, high 20 points, but they would finish the tournament 0-2 with competitive games. Gallery

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Boy's Basketball: Beekmantown Eagles Vs Willsboro Wolves January 3rd 2026

It would be the second game of the day at the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, and it would be the consolation game on the boys' side, featuring the Beekmantown Eagles and Willsboro Wolves. The game would start well for the Eagles, as they would outscore the Wolves in the first quarter,0-0. In the second quarter, the Wolves started to warm up and held their own, trailing 13-8, and had a 33-8 lead at the break. When the teams return for the third quarter, it would be a close defensive quarter, as the Eagles would win 9-6 and take a 42-14 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Wolves would do their best to keep it close, as the Eagles led 14-13 and went on to secure the 56-27 victory. In the Eagles' effort, Garrett Pelkey wledthe way with 19 points as they gwent1-1 at the tournament and finished third. As for the Wolves, Connor Crowningshields led the way with 7 points as they went 0-2 on the week, and both head into the section streaking after the break. Gallery
