Chateaugy's Jeffrey Stimpson (14) slides in and breaks up the attack by Peru's (20) outside the box. It would be a nonsectional boy's soccer game from the Peru High School Soccer Field as the Peru Nighthawks would host perennial class D-ranked Chayeaugay Bulldogs. The Nighthawks would get the opening goal of the game from Nick Petro to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Nighthawks would keep coming and get a second goal in the first half on a penalty kick from Seanan Edwards to give them the 2-0 lead in the 34th minute and that's where the first half would end. When the teams came back for the second half there would be no give in the Bulldogs and would keep up the physical play but in the 46th minute, the Nighthawks would extend the lead to 3-0 on Seanan Edwards's second goal of the game. The Nighthawks would keep their foot on the gas and would make it a 4-0 game in the 53rd minute on the Jordan Osborne goal. Then with five minutes left in the game, the Nighthawks would put the icing on the cake as Hayden Lozier would score to secure the 5-0 win. The Nighthawks would extend their perfect record to 5-0 as they will be back in action on September 18th against the Saranac Spartans. It would be the opening match of the season for both the Peru Nighthawks and the Saranac Lake Red Storm in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball action from Peru. It might have been the first of the season but it might have been a candidate for match of the season as it would go all give sets including the fourth one going to a 26-24 for the Red Storm. In the end, the Red Storm would just be too much on this day for the home Nighthawks as the Red Storm go to 1-0 while the Nighthawks fall to 0-1 on the season. Gallery

Beekmantown's Olivia Hagadorn (12) with the three from the corner as part of a four-point afternoon. It would be the opening game of Section VII Basketball Championship weekend from the campus of Clinton Community College and it would feature #1 Beekmantown Eagles and #2 Peru Nighthawks in the Girl's Class A Finals. The Nighthawks would come into the game with upset on their mind and in the first quarter they would show it with a 10-4 quarter. In the second quarter, it would be the complete opposite as the Eagles would settle and their offense would come as they would win the quarter 10-3 and have a slim 14-13 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the teams would play very evenly as the game would be tied at 26 as they head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter the Eagles would have a 16-10 quarter as there would be over a third of the points scored in just that quarter along the Eagles would get the come-from-behind victory at 42-36. It would be time for some playoff basketball at Plattsburgh High as the Hornets would host long-time rival the #3 Peru Nighthawks in the semi-finals of the Section VII Class A Boy's Basketball Tournament with the winner getting the #1 Beekmantown Eagles at Clinton Community College on March 1st. The upset-minded Nighthhawks would get off to a good start and have the lead through the early stages of the game but the Hornets would find their shot and have the 21-20 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would start to pull away from the Nighthawks as they would have a 21-10 quarter and take the 42-30 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half and the third quarter the Hornets would stay hot as they would double up the Nighthawks with a 20-10 quarter and take a 60-40 lead into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a 20-14 quarter and secure the 80-54 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 15-6 on the season and meet with the Beekmantown Eagles for the Section VII Class A Boy's Basketball crown while the Peru Nighthawks season comes to an end at 3-18. Malone's Sadie Varin (2) would get flight and block the shot of Peru's Destiny Snider (1) on her shot attempt in close. It woi;d be the last game of the 2023 edition of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Malone Huskies and the Peru Nighthawks it would be one of the toughest games over the two days. The game might start slow but it wasn't for the lack of excitement as the Nigthawks and Huskies would be tied at six after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would take the slim 2-point into the break with a 7-5 quarter and a 13-11 lead at the break. In the third quarter, the game would still be tight but the Nighthawks would tie the game up at 24 as they head to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would pull ahead with an 8-7 quarter and hold on to get the 32-31 win With the win the Nighthawks would go to 4-3 on the season and Huskies would fall to 2-2 on the season and Reese Duprey for the Nighthawks would lead all scorers with 18 points.
