Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Peru Nighthawks Vs Seton Catholic Knights December 28th 2023

Peru's Lucas Allen (34) and Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl battle for the loose ball on the scramble at the top of the key. It would be the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the opening game would see the Peru Nighthawks taking on the Seton Catholic Knights. The Nighthawks would start the game well and would be doubling up the Knights by the end of the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would keep up the fight and keep it close as the Nighthawks would win the quarter but only 12-8 and take a 24-14 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense for the Nighthawks would step up and they would start to pull away with a 17-6 quarter take a 41-20 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would do their best not to let the deficit get any worse as the Nighthawks would have a 14-12 quarter and secure the 55-32 win. In the winning effort, Kobe Harris would lead the way with 14 points as the Nighthawks would get their first win of the season and go to 1-4 on the season while the Knights fell to 1-5. Gallery

Peru's Kobe Harris (24) with the block on the pass attempt by Seton Catholic's Oliver Hughes (10) as he attempts to break the trap. It would be the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the opening game would see the Peru Nighthawks taking on the Seton Catholic Knights. The Nighthawks would start the game well and would be doubling up the Knights by the end of the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would keep up the fight and keep it close as the Nighthawks would win the quarter but only 12-8 and take a 24-14 lead into the break. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Boy's Basketball: Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Peru Knighthawks December 27th 2023

Peru's Hunter Eagle (2) with a jumper along the sidelines for the score over Boquet Valley's Ted Gay (11). It would be the opening game of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would feature the Peru Nighthawks and the Boquet Valley Griffins in Boy's Basketball action. The game would start tight as the Griffins would have a slim 16-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter though the Griffins would start to pull away with a 13-8 quarter and take a 29-20 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Nighthawks would do their best to stay with the Griffins as the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 13-10 and take a 42-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Griffins would double up the Nighthawks with a 14-7 quarter and secure the 56-37 victory. In the winning effort, Jackson Hooper would lead the way for the Griffins with 17 points as they go to 7-0 and stay undefeated on the season as they will take on the Saranac Spartans on Day 2 of the tournament. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Girl's Basketball Peru Nighthawks Vs Boquet Valley Griffins December 27th 2023

Boquet Valley's Ella Lobdell (15) goes up for the layup and avoids the outreached hand of Peru's defender for the score. It would be the last game of the opening day of the third annual Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Peru Nigthawks in another classic Champlain Valley/Mountain Valley classic. The Nighthawks would get off to a soaring start in the game and have an 18-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would play a more evenly matched eight minutes with the Nighthawks having a slim 11-8 quarter and taking a 29-13 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the second half the Nighthawks would have shutdown defense and win the quarter 15-1 and take a 44-14 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the teams would play a little more evenly but the Nighthawks would still get the 15-11 quarter and secure the 59-25 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would even up their record on the season at 4-4 and will play Malone Huskies in the second game of the classic while Boquet Valley falls to 4-4 and will meet up with the Saranac Spartans. It would be the last game of the opening day of the third annual Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Peru Nigthawks in another classic Champlain Valley/Mountain Valley classic. Northern Adirondack's wrestler has Peru's wrestler on his back as he is putting him through the stretch. It would be the second week of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Wrestling as the Peru Nighthawks would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats it would be close in the early going but the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would pull away for the 49-24 victory. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would go to 2-0 in the section while the Peru Nighthawks fall to 1-1 as the teams hit the quarter pole of the sectional season. Peru's Trenten Taylor (15) with the leaping catch along the sidelines and he would took into the endzone for the score. It would be the second game of the championship Saturday from Ausable Valley as this time it would be the Section VII Class B championship as it would be the classic rivalry with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament. It would start out like a lot of these classic games with hard-hitting and tight defense. The Nighthawks would finally break through for the first score of the game on a 23-yard pass and catch to Trenten Taylor to give the Nighthawks the 7-0 lead with 2 minutes left in the half and that is how the first half would end. The game would stay there till the 5:38 mark of the third quarter when Zack Engstrom would score from 5 yards out to make it a 14-0 game. Then with just over six minutes left in the game, the Nighthawks would take control of the game on Zack Engstrom's second score of the game this time from 40 yards out, and secure the 20-0 lead and win. With the win the Nighthawks go to 8-1 on the season and will take on the Gouvenor Wildcats in the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament. The Beekmantown Eagles season will come to an end at 6-4. Gallery

#1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles November 4th 2023
The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2023 Section VII Class B champions. It would be the second game of the championship Saturday from Ausable Valley as this time it would be the Section VII Class B championship as it would be the classic rivalry with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament.
