NYSPHSAA Boy's Hockey: #10 Saranac Spartans @ Livingston Lakers January 17th 2025

Saranac's Adrian Barnes (8) with his second goal of the night on the scramble in front of the net. It would be NYSPHSA Boy's Hockey from the IRA Wilson Arena on the campus of SUNY Geneseo. It would see the #10 Saranac Spartans travel and take on the Livingston Lakers to start their road weekend to Section V. The game would start well for the home Lakers as they would get the game's opening goal at the 7:53 mark of the period. The Spartans would come back and tie the game up at the 11:17 mark of the period when Adrian Barnes would score. At the 14:30 mark of the period, the traveling Spartans would take the 2-1 lead on the Noah Miner goal. Then, to finish the period with 23 seconds left, the Spartans would strike again for their goal in five minutes, and the second one for Adrian Barnes as the period would end at 3-1. When the teams returned for the second period, the Spartans would waste little time making it a 4-1 lead as Adrian Banes would complete the hat trick. Then the Lakers would come back and score two goals in 12 seconds to make it a 4-3 game. Then, with under 5 minutes left in the period, they would complete the comeback and tie the game at four The,n just 1:45 into the third period; the Lakers would take the lead back to 5-4 and be able to extend the lead to 6-4 with just over 12 minutes left in the game. The Spartans would keep fighting and make it a 1 goal game again at the 9:08 mark on the Ryan Campbell short-handed goal. Then, with 1:49 left in the game, the Spartans would tie the game at six on the Gab Moore rebound goal, and that's where regulation would end. In the overtime, the Spartans would get the game-winner on the Ashtyn Catlin powerplay goal as the Spartans got the 7-6 win. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 5-2-1 on the season as Sean Mclane makes 17 saves, and they will be right back in action as they take on Churchville Chilli to finish off the weekend tri-ass for the Laker; they fall to 2-8-1 on the season and will be playing Brighton tomorrow finish off there weekend set. Saranac Lake Placid Gerald Woodruff (14) with the check on the Hornets attacker to break up the play behind the net. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey, and for the second time in a week, the Saranac Lake Placid Lakers would come to Plattsburgh and the Ameri-can Sports Center as they would take on the Plattsburgh Hornets. The Hornets would get on the board at the 10:45 mark of the first period on the Chase Laravia goal to make it a 1-0 game. Then, about 90 seconds later, the Hornets would expand their lead to 2-0 on the Lucas Dashnaw goal, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the third period, as there would be no scoring in the second period. In the third period, the Hornets would make it a 3-0 game at the 11:12 mark on the Braeden Calkins. The Lakers would get on the board with just under two minutes left in the game on the Ayden McCormick goal to make it a two-goal game again at 3-1. The Hornets would finish the game in the final minute on the empty netter from Braeden CalkCalkins'l to secure the 4-1 win. With the win, the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 2-4-1 on the season as they head into their tournament in Albany next weekend. The game would start well for the home Spartans as Gabe Moore would get the game's opening goal at the 3:30 mark of the period for the 1-0 lead. Later in the period, the Lakers would get the equalizer from Ayden McCormick to tie the game after the first period. In the early stages of the second period, the Spartans would regain the lead on the Landon Giroux at 2-1. The game would stay there till the 7:35 mark of the period when Ryan Campbell would light the lamp on the rebound goal. Then, with just under five minutes left in the period, Campbell would strike again for his second of the night and make it a 4-1 game. The Lakers would answer back on the powerplay with 1:35 left in the second period on Ayden McCormick's second goal of the night, and the period would end at 4-2 Spartans. It would take the 11:52 mark of the third period for the next goal when Ashytn Catlin would score for the Spartans and make it a 5-2 game, but just 15 seconds later, the Spartans would extend it to 6-2 on Nolan Miner's goal. Then, just two minutes later, the Spartans would end their scoring spree as Chase Carpenter would get on the board and make it a 7-2 game. The Lakers would get one in the closing minute from Ayden McCormick for his second goal to finish the game at 7-3 Spartans. It would be the classic Section VII rivalry with the Beekmantown Eagles hosting the Plattsburgh Hornets from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. Still, this game would have a different meaning today as it would be the annual Hannah's Hope as they raise money to help find a cure for the horrible disease that has stricken the girl. The game would start fast and well for the home Eagles as Edward Sweenor would light the lamp just 29 seconds into the game for the early 1-0 Eagles lead. The Hornets would come back and tie the game at the 3:55 mark on the rebound goal from Cooper Holland. Then, no more than 90 seconds after that, the upset-minded Hornets would take the 2-1 lead on the powerplay goal from Braeden Calkins. The lead for the Hornets would be short-lived as Edward Sweenor would get the tying goal just over a minute later for his second of the game, and the first period would end tied at 2. In the second period, the Eagles would get the lone goal from Edward Sweenor to complete the hat trick on the day at the 6:10 mark to make it a 3-2 game. Then, in the third period, in the early minutes, the Eagles would make it a two-goal game on the Novak Jarus goal at 4-2, and that's where the game would finish. The Plattsburgh Hornets would open up the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference portion of their season with a home tilt against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars from the Ameri-can North Sports Complex. The Hornets would get the game's opening goal at the 6:37 mark of the first period when Cooper Holland would sneak it by the netminder for the 1-0 Hornets lead. The game would stay there till the 6:50 mark of the second period when Sam Bezio would snip by the Cougars goalie for the 2-0 lead. The Hornets would keep coming and expand their lead to 3-0 at 9:07 into the second period when Braeden Calkins would score. Then, at the 10:01 mark of the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with the game's second goal by Sam Bezio and take the 4-0 lead, and from there, they would hold on for the win.
