Section VII Class A Girl's Basketball Finals: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 28th 2026

It would be the final game of the 2026 Section VII Basketball Championship weekend at the Florence Gym at Clinton Community College, with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the Girls' Class A title. The Nighthawks would come out on fire as they would jump out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. They would keep it going in the second quarter, scoring 14-6 and taking a 28- 0 lead into the locker room. When they came out of the locker room, it would be more of the same for the Nighthawks with a 17-7 quarter as they would stand at 45-17 as they entered the fourth. In the 4th quarter, the Nighthawks would go into cruise mode, and the Eagles would win the quarter 13-10, but the Nighthawks would hold on for the 55-30 victory. In the winning effort for the Nighthawks, Reese Duprey would lead the way with 20 points as they punched their ticket to the New York State Class A Tournament. #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 28th 2026
The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2026 Section VII Class A Champions with a 55-30 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles. #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Plattsburgh Hornets February 27th 2026
The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2026 Section VII Class A Champions with a 52-45 victory over the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be the first game of the championship weekend from the Florence Gym at Clinton Community College as the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would meet up for the Section VII Class A Championship. The upset-minded Hornets would start well, doubling up the Nighhawks in the first quarter with a 1- 4-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Nighthawks would have answered, as they would take the quarter 18-6 and hold a 25-20 lead at the intermission. In the third quarter, the Hornets would answer back, scoring 15-9 and taking a 35-34 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would have the answer and put the finishing touches on the Hornets with aan18-7 quarter. In the winning effort for the Nighthawks, a trio would lead the way with 11 points: Eli Ledwith, Cogan St. Denis, and Mouhamadou Diatt, as they advance to the New York State Class A Tournament. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: #17 Peru Nigthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets January 23rd 2026

In the second quarter, though, we would see the true Nighthawks come out, as they would have a 21-7 quarter to take a convincing 31-17 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would do their best to keep it close, but they couldn't get any closer, as the Nighthawks led 20-15 at halftime and secured the 51-32 victory. It would be a battle in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boys' Soccer as the Northeastern Clinton Cougars would meet up with the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain, New York, as the conference title would be on the line. The Nighthawks would get the lone goal in the first half from Deacon Whittmarsh as they would take the 1-0 lead into the halftime. When the teams returned for the second half, the Nighhawks would stay on the gas pedal, and they would add a pair of goals from Deacon Whittmarsh and Seanan Edwards as they secured the 3-0 victory and were crowned co-champs for the regular season. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks are 12-1 on the season and will finish the season out against Saranac Lake next week. As for the Northeastern Clinton, they will finish their season next week. The Peru Nighthawks celebrate their win and their conference title with the 3-0 win over Northeastern Clinton. It would be a battle in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boys' Soccer as the Northeastern Clinton Cougars would meet up with the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain, New York, as the conference title would be on the line. The Nighthawks would get the lone goal in the first half from Deacon Whittmarsh as they would take the 1-0 lead into the halftime. When the teams returned for the second half, the Nighhawks would stay on the gas pedal, and they would add a pair of goals from Deacon Whittmarsh and Seanan Edwards as they secured the 3-0 victory and were crowned co-champs for the regular season. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Champions Challenge Girl's Basketball: #11 Saranac Spartans Vs #12 Peru Nighthawks March 5th 2025

Peru's Madi Marino (3) with the the three from the top of the key as part of a two point night. After over a 15 year hituas it would be the return of the Section VII Champions and on the first night it would be the girl's taking center stage and the second game of the day would see a battle inside the top 15 as it would be the #11 Saranac Spartans from Class B taking on #12 Peru Nighthawks from Class A. The Spartans would start by taking control of the game in the first quarter as they would have a 13-5 lead on the Nighthawks after the first eight minutes. The second quarter would be more evenly matched as the Nighthawks would win slightly with a 14-13 quarter, but the Spartans would have the 26-19 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans found their groove again, had a 12-8 quarter, and took the 38-27 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth and final quarter, the Spartans would put the closing marks on the game with a 12-7 quarter and secure the 50-34 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Breanna Ducatte would lead the way with 18 points as they go to 16-3 on the season, enter the New York State tournament, and play the Section II champion on March 12th. As for the Peru Nighthawks, they will fall to 17-4 on the season as Reese Duprey would lead the way with 18, and they are also headed to the New York State tournament and will play the winner from Section II.
