Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Plattsburgh Hornets January 14th 2025

Northeastern Clinton's (2) drives to the hoop past the defender for the score as the Cougars get the 28-22 road victory. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference of Section VII in girls' basketball between the host Plattsburgh Hornets and the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars in an early-season tilt. The game would start well for the visiting Cougars, who took a 7-2 lead after the first quarter in a defensive battle. The Hornets would answer back quickly in the section quarter with 5 points in the first minute to tie the game at 7, but the Cougars would finish the half on a 9-4 run to take the 16-11 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would show their muscle, scoring 7-1 to take an 18-17 lead into the final eight minutes of the game. In that final quarter, the Cougars would get their shot back and goon toto have an 11-4 quarter to secure the 28-22 victory on the nig, their first win of the season, and go to 1-2 while the Hornets fall to 1-3 on the season. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference of Section VII in girls' basketball between the host Plattsburgh Hornets and the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars in an early-season tilt. It would be a matchup within the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference, with the Seton Catholic Knights hosting the Wells Wildcats in Plattsburgh in an early-season contest. It would be a defensive battle through the first quarter, with the Wildcats holding a slim 4-3 lead. In the second quarter, the Wildcats found their offense and pulled away with a 12-3 quarter, taking a 16-6 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the second half it would be the defensive contest that we started the game with as the Wildcats would win the half 10-6 and they would secure the 26-12 win, In the winning effort the Wildcats would stay perfect on the season as they go to 3-0 while the Knights fall to 1-3 on the season. NYSPHSAA Northern Regional Class D Girl's Basketball Championship: #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs Vs #9 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 1st 2025

Chateaugay's Irelynn Laplante (12) takes flight on the breakaway score for two of her 16 points on the afternoon. It would be regional finals day from the Clinton Community College with a ticket to the final four on the line, starting with the Class D Girls. It would see the #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs from Section X taking on the # 9 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Section VII. The game would start quickly, but it would be good for the visiting Bulldogs as they would jump out to an 11-lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would use their quick shooting to jump on, take control of the game with a 16-5 quarter, and take the 33-16 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs would keep up their tight defense, have another good quarter at 10-5, and take the 43-21 lead into the final quarter. With the outcome of the game well out of doubt, the coaches would put the benches in for the fourth quarter, and the Bulldogs would win the low-scoring quarter at 6-3 as they would secure the 49-24 victory. In the winning effort for the Chateaugay Bulldogs, they will punch their ticket to the final four and get the winner of LaFragville and South Knighton at Hudson Valley Community College. In the win for the Bulldogs, Madison McComb and Irelynn Laplante each had 16 points as they went to 24-1 in the season. The Chateaugay Bulldogs are crowned the 2025 Nothern Regional Class D Girls' Basketball champions with a 49-24 victory over the Schroon Lake Wildcats to advance to the final four. After over a 15 year hituas it would be the return of the Section VII Champions and on the first night it would be the girl's taking center stage and the second game of the day would see a battle inside the top 15 as it would be the #11 Saranac Spartans from Class B taking on #12 Peru Nighthawks from Class A. The Spartans would start by taking control of the game in the first quarter as they would have a 13-5 lead on the Nighthawks after the first eight minutes. The second quarter would be more evenly matched as the Nighthawks would win slightly with a 14-13 quarter, but the Spartans would have the 26-19 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans found their groove again, had a 12-8 quarter, and took the 38-27 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth and final quarter, the Spartans would put the closing marks on the game with a 12-7 quarter and secure the 50-34 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Breanna Ducatte would lead the way with 18 points as they go to 16-3 on the season, enter the New York State tournament, and play the Section II champion on March 12th. As for the Peru Nighthawks, they will fall to 17-4 on the season as Reese Duprey would lead the way with 18, and they are also headed to the New York State tournament and will play the winner from Section II. The game would start very evenly matched with a 14-13 lead for the Schroon Lake Wildcats. When the second quarter rolled around, the Vikings took control of the game with a great showing on a 15-4 quarter and took the 28-18 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wildcats would be able to get their game back again, but the Vikings' offense would stay hot as well, and the Vikings would win the quarter 16-14 and take the 44-32 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter would be another tight one, as defense would be the name of the game. The Vikings would win the quarter 8-7 and secure the 52-39 win. In the winning effort for the Vikings, Emma Harrington would lead the way with a 30-point game as they go to 18-4 on the season as they head into their New York State Tournament game against the Lisbon Golden Knights. As for the Schroon Lake Wildcats, they would fall to 14-7 on the season as Olivia Hartwell would have 17 points on the night as they head into their New York State Tournament game against the Chateaugay Bulldogs with a berth in the final four on the line.
