It would be a Section VII Class A Girls' Basketball playoff tilt from Beekmantown High School as the #2 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets for the right to play for a sectional title against #1 Peru Nighthawks at Clinton Community College next weekend. The game would start well for the upset-minded Hornets, who jumped out to a 13-0 lead, but the Eagles would chip away, and the Hornets would have a 17-13 lead at the end of the quarter. The Eagles would keep coming in the second quarter and send the game to the intermission tied at 22 on a 9-5 quarter. When the teams returned for the third quarter, defense would be the name of the game, as the Eagles would take a 29-27 lead into the fourth quarter thanks to a 7-5 quarter. In the fourth quarter, the game would stay tight, and Ava Weiss for the Hornets would hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds to send the game to overtime tied at 33. In the end, the home Eagles would take control in the fourth quarter and get the 43-36 victory. It would be an interstate matchup at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse as the Beekmatown Eagles would host the Bellows Free Academy from Vermont on their senior night and the next-to-last game of their regular season. Bellows Free Academy would get the quick lead in the game, just 2:50 in on the William Schrienderfer goal. The game would stay there till the 8:39 mark of the period when the Eagles would tie the game up at one on the Evan Bruyette power-play goal on the wrister from just inside the blue line. The Bobwhites would strike again, though, with just 11 seconds left in the period, on William Schriendorfer's second goal of the game for the 2-1 lead at the first. The Eagles would quickly respond in the second period, just 43 seconds in, when Edward Sweenor would tie the game at two, and that would be the lone goal of the middle period. The Bowhites would regain the one-goal lead at 3-2 at the 9:25 mark of the period when Brody Tatro would score. The Eagles would keep fighting, and with just 1:42 left in the game, Edward Sweenor would strike again for his second of the game, tying the game at three, and that's where regulation would end. They would then play a five-minute overtime. Both teams would have their chances to get the game winner, but the goalies were up to the task, and the game would end tied at three. Jack Bell for the Eagles would make 31 saves on the night as they go to 11-6-2 on the season as they head into the regular season finale against the Saranac Spartans Saturday night. It would be the battle of the top two teams in Section VII Boys' Hockey as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers, with the winners taking over first place in the standings as they come down the stretch. The Eagles would take the 1-0 lead just 6:18 into the game when Pryce Parker would find the back of the net. There would be 2:45 left in the first period, and a hit would send an Eagle into the glass, shattering it and delaying the game for around 45 minutes. The teams would come back, finish the period, and play the second period, with no scoring, as both teams had their chances but couldn't light the lamp. The game would enter the third period when the Eagles would extend their lead to 2-0 at the 12:45 mark on Pryce Parker's second of the night. Then, just over two minutes later, the Eagles would extend the lead to 3-0. The Lakers would get on the board in a span of 36 seconds from Braden Harvey and Ayden McCormick to make it a 3-2 game in the final minute, but the Eagles would add the empty netter from Pryce Parker to secure the 4-2 victory. Stafford Ice Arena, as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Plattsburgh Hornets, with around 1,000 fans in attendance, all there for a good cause and hockey. The Eagles would waste little time in getting the opening goal of the game. Pryce Parker would knock a rebound past Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple for the 1-0 Eagles lead. The game would stay there all the way to the 3:13 mark of the 2nd period when Sam Bezio for the Hornets would beat Jack Bell and tie the game at one. From there, the teams would go back and forth for the next two periods, with both teams having their chance to score the go-ahead goal. Still, they couldn't get it online. The game would end in overtime, and in that overtime, Beekmantown's Pryce Parker would beat Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple with a goal on the short side as there were just five seconds on the clock. In the Eagles' effort, Jack Bell made 25 saves as they improved to 6-6-1 on the season, heading to Champlain on Tuesday to take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars.
